Report Your Co-op

Handshake Report-a-Co-op Process

To officially secure your Co-op job as a part of the U of I Co-op Program, you will need to submit your position through the Handshake platform. This will trigger a series of approvals which will include the Co-op Coordinator, your on-site supervisor, and your 教师 Co-op Advisor. You will complete this as soon as possible once you have a signed copy of your offer letter.

1. Log-in to Handshake
2. In the upper left, click the “Career Center" link.
3. On the following page, click the “Experiences” link in the upper-center of the page.
4. Click “Request an Experience”
5. Details 部分:
   1. 下 Experience Type select “Report a Co-op Experience”
   2. 下 术语 select your Co-op start term (e.g. Co-op Winter 2024)

   1. For employer phone and employer 电子邮件, you can enter a general company phone number and 电子邮件
7. 工作 section
   1. Find the matching job title that you applied to in Handshake or type it in
   2. Clearly enter start and end dates
   3. 工作 Type = Cooperative Education
   4. Employment Type = Full-time

   1. Company Supervisor: Enter the 电子邮件 address of your on-site supervisor (不 a generic company 电子邮件 or HR 电子邮件)
      1. Then, enter their first and last name
   2. U of I 教师 Co-op Advisor: Enter the 电子邮件 address of the faculty Co-op advisor for your department. If unsure, check the Meet the Co-op Team page on the Co-op webpage
9. 一般 — enter the requested information here (some information may feel redundant, but please enter it as requested)
10. Co-op Agreement
    1. Questions verifying your 下standing and agreement to the program expectations
11. Pre-Survey
    1. 一般 Co-op questions
    2. NACE Career Readiness Competencies & other goal/skills related questions
12. Attach a signed copy of your offer letter
13. Download the Learning Objectives document at very end to prepare and take to your first week at your new Co-op position
