Exchange through NSE can be tailored to fit your academic goals and broader interests. With over 180 campuses to choose from, opportunities for classes are nearly endless.

U of I students usually pay U of I in-state tuition (NSE Plan B) to attend another institution. In some circumstances, U of I students pay the host institution tuition (NSE Plan A) depending on the exchange balance. It is important to discuss your interests early with the U of I NSE Coordinator to understand your options.

While most students elect to participate in an NSE program for an entire academic year, it is possible to attend an institution for a single semester.

Unsure of where you want to go? Applicants can select up to five institutions of interest in order of personal preference. Over 90 percent of applicants who submit the necessary forms before the priority deadline are placed at their first choice.
